Dom Camardella of Santa Barbara Sound Design has a long studio history, and Vanguard's article focuses on a very specific need: capturing a grand piano. Dom had been using a vintage C24-style reference for that critical role but wanted a dependable modern option that would not bring the maintenance risk of an aging vintage microphone.
After demoing the V24, Dom chose it primarily for his Estonia grand piano. That is a strong use case for the V24 because piano needs a microphone system that can capture low-end authority, midrange tone, transient detail and the stereo shape of the instrument.
